Inside Out in Theaters Today!

I had the privilege to see Inside Out a couple of weeks ago. 

It starts off with a short film called Lava! I have to admit that these short films that Pixar has been placing at the beginning of these new films are really cute.  This film is about of the best subjects in life... love! 

Inside Out is one of the movies that we have been patiently waiting for. I think we saw a preview last year and the kids just looked at me and gave me the "we want to see this one" look. I have to admit, I wanted to see it too. 

Have you ever wanted to know exactly what is going on in your head or better yet in the mind of other? Well Inside Out will tackle that topic. 

The stars of this movie are the main 5 emotions: Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness.  The names should say it all. Imagine these 5 emotions taking full control of 11 year old Riley. I love how they are at the "control panel" controlling everything that Riley is going through each and every day.  

 

Riley soon has to relocate to a new place, new school, and is out of her comfort zone making her emotions run on over drive trying to help her adjust to all the new things happening.  Joy tries to be in control and why not, she is the happiest and wants the best for Riley. Right? At the same time Sadness is trying to figure out where she belongs.

 

That is where the story gets a little too close to home. I don't know about you but I have a tendency to try and take control thinking that I know what is best. Joy and happiness is what I would want for my kids not thinking about the importance of all the other emotions. 

This is a must see movie for you and your family this summer. 

Big Hero 6 Hits Theaters Today

I don't know about your house but my kids have been talking about Big Hero 6 for months!

I had the honor of being invited to check out Big Hero 6 last weekend. My little man was ecstatic that it was his' turn for a mommy/son date. WOOHOO!!

 

Big Hero 6 is about Hiro Hamada, an actual genius that graduated High School at the age of 13. I told you genius.  His brother tries his best to help his young brother not waste his  young years away and with lots of hard work Hiro gets into the Robotic department at San Fransokyo Tech. The same College that his brother is attending. 

When a devastating event happens he finds comfort and support from Baymax, a squishy, marshmallow looking robot that was created to help the sick and injured.

Seriously, how cute is Baymax.  On a scale from 1-10 how would you describe the pain? HA!

Hiro, Baymax and his friends learn of a criminal plot but they need to uncover more information. He ends up transforming them into "Superheros".  He took their strengths and used that as their powers. 
Makes me sit here and think of what my strengths are. I want to be a Superhero too.

Big Hero 6 had lots of different lessons to be learned like trust, believing in yourself, mourning, revenge and friendship all packed into 108 minutes. 

Big Hero 6 is actually inspired by the Marvel comics.  I didn't know that going into the movie.  If you are comparing this movie to the actual comic books, I am no help, because I have not read them. I can tell you that we enjoyed this movie and I am sure we will end up purchasing it when it comes out.

If you are planning a weekend movie with the kids, Big Hero 6 is an excellent family choice. It comes to Theaters on November 7th.

Are you planning on seeing Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

I know I'm not the only one that remembers reading the book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day growing up. My husband and I went to elementary school together so we both remember it, so when I saw they made a movie I was very excited to see it.  Apparently the kids did too because they wouldn't stop talking about it since they saw the previews. 

The Movie opens today and is about Alexander who is literally having the worst day, seriously, if you are having a bad day you need to go watch this movie to help you realize that your day is not "that bad". Don't believe me, he catches the science lab on fire! If that was the only thing that happened, we could say it was a bad day but that was only a fraction of his day. 

Like most of us, Alexander feels he is alone and is the only one that has bad days. Maybe it is because his family seems to have a perfect life and doesn't really acknowledge Alexander's bad day as much as he would like.

That is, until the table is turned and they have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day of their own.

I thought the movie was great, the kids liked it and still haven't stopped talking about it. I didn't notice any bad language and didn't feel any reason why the kids shouldn't watch this film.

Movie coupons just came out there.  If you are in the mood to purchase movies anyway why not keep some extra money in your pocket.  Remember you can print 2 per computer and when they are gone they are gone. So if you are thinking about purchasing the movie print it out just in case.
